Ferry Weertman won back-to-back gold medals at the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2017 FINA World Championships.
Extraordinarily impressive to say the least.
But his 26-year-old Dutch girlfriend, Ranomi Kromowidjojo, is setting the standard and keeps up with his open water success in the pool.
Kromowidjojo is a triple Olympic gold medalist (4×100m freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics + 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle at the 2012 London Olympics) and just set her third world record in the women’s 50m free in the pool. She swam a 22.93 to become the first woman to break 23 seconds in a short course 50m freestyle.
