I feel alive, I feel fresh…don’t stop,” opens Julie Jones in Wild Swimmers, a documentary film about wild swimmers by Sean Valentine. “[Wild swimming] feels amazing.”

Kevin Stiff explains further in the 14-minute film. “When you get out, you really get that buzz afterwards. Your body is tingling and you think ‘Look what I just done.’ and when you don’t do it, you really feel like you are missing something.”

It is the act of doing something which is scary and overcoming that … and being comfortable with the cold and discomfort gives you a sense of strength,” says James Hodge.

It recently won the Royal Television Society South West factual film award. The film showcased swimmers from Devon Wild Swimming and Cornwall Wild Swimming.

Sean Valentine is a British cinematographer, filmmaker and photographer based in the South West of England who creates documentary, commercial and narrative films.
