The Barbados Open Water Festival was born out of casual conversation between a group of open water swim regulars in Barbados.

Zary and Kristina Evelyn took up the challenge and have hosted the event annually since 2013 in Barbados’ magnificent Carlisle Bay.

The event annually attracts over 400 swimmers from across the globe,” says Evelyn. “From recreational to elite, young to the more mature, they come to swim and enjoy a wonderful vacation in Barbados. Three days of practice swims are followed by two days of races (1.5 km, 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km and a 10 km relay). Besides the beauty of the island, there is a wonderful camaraderie between swimmers many of whom return
every year
