What Is A Goggle Tan?

A goggle tan* is the division on a swimmer’s temple and around their eyes between skin of noticeable paleness relative to the rest of the face that has been suntanned by prolonged sun exposure.

Upper photo shows Vedika Bolliger, a 34-year-old Swiss swimmer who swam across Lake Geneva on July 30th-31st 1999 in 42 hours 45 minutes. Lower photo shows the Pinoy Aquaman or Ingemar Patiño Macarine who is currently tapering to become the first Filippino to cross the English Channel.

Also called panda eyes or raccoon eyes.
