Wendy Tréhiou completed the third Guernsey-to-Jersey crossing in history on July 8th – 9th.
She followed the pioneering 18-mile (28.96 km) swim of Ruth Oldham from Lancashire in 1962 and Neil Faudemer of Jersey in 2015.
“It was a brutal swim, the second toughest after my Channel double,” Tréhiou explained about the 16 hour 46 minute crossing.
“I really had to push hard from the start to the finish because of the tide. I would not recommend anyone doing it who has not done a Channel swim, simply because it was such a mental challenge as well.
It waa a real head-spinner. I had to swim towards Sark first. It felt like I was treading water for two hours because it did not seem like I was going anywhere.”
She endured at least 8 jellyfish stings on her face. “They were very big. They were wrapping tentacles around my neck and arms.”
