Noel Grimes, The Newest Ice Ironman

Irish extreme athlete Noel Grimes became the most recent Ice Ironman with his 12 hour 17 minute completion of the Ironman Copenhagen on August 19th.

In addition to his 1 hour 8 minute 2.4-mile swim, 5 hour 56 minute 180-mile bike, 4 hour 59 minute marathon run at last weekend’s Ironman, the Irish extreme athlete has completed two Ice Miles (in 4.63°C water in 37 minutes 42.09 seconds and in 4.07°C water in 35 minutes 35 seconds, both at Conroy Pond, Wild Water Armagh in Northern Ireland in 2016) and four Ice Kilometers (in 3.1°C water in 26 minutes 6 seconds, in 4.5°C water in 21 minutes 17 seconds, in 3.4°C water in 22 hours 25.91 seconds, and in 0.0°C water in 21 minutes 25.56 seconds) during his ice swimming career.

Ice Ironmen and Ice Ironwomen are extreme athletes who have completed both an Ice Mile and a full Ironman triathlon.
