Vladimir Turovsky (Владимир Туровский) is a 45-year-old Russian swimmer from Borovskiy who is the fastest double amputee in the ice. He finished 132nd overall in the 50m freestyle at the 2019 International Ice Swimming Association 3rd World Championship and 1st Ice Swimming Arctic Cup in 1:35:99 as snow was falling as the water temperature was just over 0°C [shown above].
Newcomer Quinn Fitzgerald, a 36-year-old American from San Francisco, upset the field and won his first world title in 26.94 in Murmansk, Russia. It was the first world swimming title by a Yale University graduate since Don Schollander was the reigning freestyle champion in 1964.
