Team 210•Southwest Takes Two: Dál Riata 2.0

Pilots Pádraig Mallon and Richard Lafferty of Infinity Channel Swimming and Piloting Services know the value of ‘try, try again’.

After Mo McCoy, John McElroy, Olive Conroy, and Adrian Poucher struggled against the currents for nearly 13 hours on their first attempt of the Dál Riata Channel between Scotland and Ireland last July, the members of the Team 210•Southwest went back home and bid their time for a second attempt.

Weeks past and the conditions finally looked right on September 7th 2015. The team of Keith Garry, John McElroy, Olive Conroy, and Adrian Poucher made the most of their second opportunity. Whereas they struggled on Dál Riata 1.0, they powered their way to a 7 hour 33 minute Dál Riata 2.0 crossing between Mull of Kintyre in Scotland and Cross Slieve, Cushendun Bay in Northern Ireland.
