Dionne Tatlow and Jason Watt are the co-race directors of Crown The King Open Water Swim in Saskatchewan, Canada.
The Crown The King Open Water Swim is a unique 1.6 km, 4 km swim and a 10 km marathon swim at Trippes Beach on Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park, Canada.
Tatlow explains its history, “In 2013, I realized that our local Saskatchewan open water swimming community was lacking an event. Jason Watt and I are both members of the Prince Albert Triathlon Club that thought our favorite swim – around King Island on Waskesiu Lake – would be quite suitable.
Then the first annual Crown The King Open Water Swim was held. This is now our fourth year hosting the event.
It has a lovely local atmosphere and some great conditions. The water is anywhere from 60-67°F. We have grown the event to offer 3 distances: 1.6 km, 4 km and 10 km. We love hosting the event and have received nothing but fantastic reviews from our swimmers. We would love to grow this event further, given that it is one-of-a-kind and hosted in such a beautiful area of the province.”
