Louise Scales (née Louise Stevenson) has twice won the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia (in 2010 and 2011) and was the first person to complete a 38 km two-way crossing from the mainland of Fiji to Beachcomber Island and back in 9 hours 45 minutes in 2011.
Her course set forth the formal two-way route used annually by one of the world’s top 100 open water swims, Fiji Swims.
The Christchurch (New Zealand) native will soon set off on another 38 km double crossing from Fiji to Beachcomber Island and back today.
