At the Fran Crippen Sunset Mile in Castaic Lake this evening in Santa Clarita, California, hundreds of age-group swimmers took to the water lake waters – some of them for the first time.

And few were as energetic and competitive as the younger boys.

Once the start gun went off, the little ones dashed as fast as they could in the water. They seemed to only know one speed and pace – go as fast as you can and then hold on.
