Bruce Gemmell, a former collegiate swimmer and passionate supporter of open water swimming, is now the head coach at Georgetown Prep for the Nation’s Capital Swim Club in Washington D.C.
The long-time Delaware resident moved south from Delaware to Washington D.C. as his University of Georgia son Andrew moved north from Georgia to join the team.
Together the father-son team is a dynamic duo who know how to push the limits of distance freestyle.
Andrew is one of the favorites to represent the USA at the 2013 FINA World Championships in both the 1500m pool event and the 10K marathon swim. He is competing in the 5 km and 10 km races this weekend at Castaic Lake in California with the hopes to compete in the Mediterranean Sea in Barcelona this July.
