OCEANMAN, a series of 34 open water swims around the world originally organized in 2015, has continuously grown throughout the world with over 45,000 entrants in its races in 40 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, featuring races from 500 meters to 10 km geared primarily toward amateur athletes.
Lenny Krayzelburg, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, brings OCEANMAN to the United States together with Dmytro Kachurovskyy, Sergiu Gherman, Casey Taker, and Matt Dunn. Their first race will be held at Haulover Park in Miami, Florida held between November 14th-16th – and based on an expansive vision. “Our mission with OCEANMAN USA is to inspire a new generation of swimmers to embrace open water. Miami represents the energy and spirit needed to build a lasting open water community. Its vibrant culture, diverse population, and strong connection to the ocean create the ideal environment to grow this movement and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all. OCEANMAN is more than a series—it’s a global movement built on the values of perseverance, wellness, and exploration.”
OCEANMAN USA will a 10 km event that serves as a qualification race for the OCEANMAN World Final as well as the 5 km Half OCEANMAN, the 1-2 km Sprint, 500m OCEANKIDS race for ages 7–14, and the 3x500m OCEANTEAMS relay. The races will feature multiple age and ability categories, including juniors, masters, and athletes with disabilities.
“We are excited to bring OCEANMAN to the United States,” said Fermin Egido, CEO of OCEANMAN. “The U.S. has a vibrant swimming culture, and we believe OCEANMAN will resonate deeply with athletes looking for new challenges and meaningful experiences in open water. This is a significant milestone for our global community.”
With more resources and a grander vision than open water swimming events across America, OCEANMAN USA plans to change the dynamics of the sport in the United States. Kachurovskyy says, “We believe there are a few key differentiators that make Oceanman USA a special milestone, and we’re genuinely excited about what this means for the global swimming world.
First, Oceanman has been growing steadily since 2015 as a truly global project, with races in 40 countries and more than 45,000 participants. And yet, until now, it hadn’t made its way to the United States. With OCEANMAN USA, we’re opening the door for American waters — some of the most iconic and diverse aquatic environments in the world — to become part of the global Oceanman journey.
Second, the U.S. has a deep-rooted tradition in open water swimming. With the arrival of OCEANMAN USA, American swimmers can now enjoy the full OCEANMAN experience — competing locally, qualifying for the World Final, and discovering the excitement of racing at international OCEANMAN events around the world.
We truly believe this is the beginning of something exciting, and we’re grateful to be part of this next chapter.”
