Ned Denison is ubiquitous in the open water. He runs global organizations such as the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame and served on boards ranging from the Vermont Open Water Swimming Hall of Fame to the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.

He is influential within his national swimming community in Ireland, maintaining records and databases, and managing events like the Cork Distance Week. He continues to swim around the world, from doing Ice Miles and swimming across False Bay to completing the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and 47 marathon swims across four continents.

Already inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame as an Honor Administrator (Class of 2012), honored by the International Swimming Hall of Fame (with the 2013 Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award and the 2013 Poseidon Award) and the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association (with the 2011 Margaret Smith Award), Denison’ long athletic career, administrative abilities and event management of open water events was recently recognized by the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland and he was inducted in the Hall of Fame as an Honour Swimmer in its Class of 2019.

Kieran Fitzgerald, a Class of 2018 Honoree, announced the following five new Honorees in the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland:

* Honour Swimmer Anne-Marie Ward
* Honour Swimmer Gráinne Moss (née Gunn)
* Honour Swimmer Ion Lazarenco Tiron
* Honour Swimmer Ned Denison

Denison and his fellow inductees will be honored at an awards ceremony in Belfast in February, 2019.
