Nathalie Pohl of Germany completed her third Oceans Seven channel this morning when she stepped foot on the Southern California mainland after her 9 hour 9 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel.

The 21-year-old from Marsburg, Germany has competed internationally (15 km Cold Half Extreme Marathon Swim in Hong Kong and the 26.4 km International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen) and previously set records for swimming widthwise across the Bodensee from Friedrichshafen in Germany to Romanshorn in Switzerland and across the Strait of Gibraltar in 2 hours 53 minutes.

The conditions were great,” observed Adam Walker who was on her boat during the overcast night and early daybreak with her coach Joshua Neloh.

Pohl said, “The swim was a good challenge, swimming so long in the dark was something I’m not use to. I did however really enjoy the bioluminescence under water it was really cool.”
