The top 3 athletes on the podium remained the same in the women’s 5 km and 10 km at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships: Haley Anderson, Ashley Twichell, and Becca Mann.
Except they all finished in different places in both events.
Becca Mann finished first in the 10 km and third in the 5 km. Haley Anderson finished first in the 5 km and second in the 5 km. Ashley Twichell finished third in the 10 km and second in the 5 km. The trio proved to be the crème de la crème in Fort Myers, Florida at this year’s championships.
The trio was only 1.6 seconds apart in the 10 km and 5.4 seconds apart in the 5 km – or a total of 7 seconds over 15 km of racing.
