Making A Lantern Out Of Water

The Disaster Response Division of the Tokyo Police Department provides safety tips for disasters. They shared information on how to make a lantern using a water bottle which is useful during earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes, blizzards or other natural disasters when homes, schools and offices are left without electricity.

Combine a plastic bottle of water with a flashlight and it can function as a lantern. The translation of the Japanese police tweet advises, “Place a plastic water bottle on top of a flashlight. The light will diffuse and allow illumination of the surrounding area.”
