Stalwart open water swimming organizer and promoter Martin Cullen reported on the Lough Sheelin Swim Championships in Ireland.
“What an incredible day. The sun shone with the water temperature at 16°C, a very pleasant surprise to many, including the 16 swimmers in the 15K and the 14 swimmers in the Irish National 10K swim.”
“Chris Bryan from Limerick set a scorching pace and over each of his four laps, he got faster and faster finishing in a time of 2 hours and 6 minutes. He was followed home by Colleen Mallon in 2:22, Owen O’Keefe in 2:25 and Susanna Murphy in 2:29. In the 5K, Sinead Tyrell finished first in 1:09, followed by Tom Healy and Rachael Lee, all from Dublin.”
