Kseniia Misharina (17, Russia, World Aquatics bio here) cruised to a 22-second victory in the 16-17 girls 7.5 km race at the 2026 World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Santa Fe, Argentina today.

The 17-year-old Russian shot out fast and hung on, challenging the rest of the field to keep up with her. But Misharina has world-clas speed and stamina; with best times of 1:57 in the 200m, 4:05 in the 400m, 8:25 in the 800m, and 16:03 in the 1500m freestyle.

By the end of the first loop (a 13:47.60 split), she was already well ahead of Brinkleigh Hansen (16, USA, World Aquatics bio here, @brinkleigh_hansen with an opening 14:06.70 split) and the rest of the trailing packs, including Kitti Kammerer (17, Hungary, World Aquatics bio here) and Olivia Galea (16, Australia, World Aquatics bio here). She maintained her lead to the end.
