Under the Arizona sun, two 38-year-olds Jessica Kieras and John Batchelder are literally turning the 4-day S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge into a mano-a-(wo)mano dual.
The 38-year-old from Colorado, Batchelder, and the 38-year-old Kieras are separated by only 1.9 seconds after the 15.2 km Day 1 stage across Saguaro Lake and the 14.4 km Day 2 stage across Canyon Lake.
The top two swimmers headed into today’s Day 3 27.3 km stage across Apache Lake and the final day’s 10 km stage across Roosevelt Lake in nearly a tie.
