Keep Your Head Up

Many competitive open water swimmers generally keep their head up around turn buoys when swimming in large packs.

As the pace slows around the turn buoys, the space between the swimmers becomes more narrow and elbows and feet can hit other swimmers’ heads, faces and torsos. With the head out of the water, swimmers can best protect their head and face.
