The new 2.4-mile Chicago River Swim was inspired by the original Chicago River Swim, organized by the Illinois Athletic Club in 1908.

Doug McConnell is organizing the revised charity swim on behalf of A Long Swim.

The urban race will start at the Ping Tom Memorial Park and finish at the Clark Street Bridge this coming summer.
