Australian Julieanne Goode landed at Wissant Bay in France to complete a 16 hour 12 minute crossing of the English Channel today.

With that accomplishment, she has now achieved the Triple Crown Of Open Water Swimming [see here].

Her coach Shelley Taylor-Smith gushed over her crossing, “I am over the moon with another English Channel solo success by Julieanne. Three cheers for her English Channel solo, Manhattan Island solo, and Catalina Channel solo. She is coached by me online, first across the Rottnest Channel and then we talked about her talents. I had lots of chats with Julieanne. The lovely thing about her was her three-year plan for the English Channel; she booked her crossing way back in 2015.

She could see France at 11 hours. And she stuck with her plan. It worked. It was 18°C across the Channel and it was hazy.

Julieanne knows her success was a team effort. Julieanne had faith in her three-year plan. Everyone stuck with the plan. At the 11-hour mark, she stuck with the plan. But her 16-hour crossing was epic. Every stroke, every meter, she had faith.”
