Jorge Delgado Before Heading To The Open Water

While Jorge Auerlio Delgado Panchana is currently well-known as the Vice Chairman of the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee for the 2009-2013 and 2013-2017 terms and the first Vice President of CONSANAT (South American Swimming Confederation or Confederación Sudamericana de Natación), he was previously known as the fastest butterfly outside of America at his peak.

During the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, he finished fourth in the 200m butterfly with a fast finish while competing in Lane 1 in the finals. The former 2-time Olympic swimmer qualified for the final in the 100m and 200m butterfly and competed against Mark Spitz in his prime.
