Rafaelle Auclair Bédard, the Welcome Committee Officer of the 2010 World Open Water Swimming Championships reported that the hotels in the host city of Roberval – about a five-hour drive from Montreal – are becoming crowded with swimmers, coaches and delegations coming to Quebec, Canada from five continents.
With marathon swimming superstars like Petar Stoychev of Bulgaria, Larisa Ilchenko of Russia, Keri-Anne Payne of Great Britain, Natalie du Toit of South Africa and Thomas Lurz and Angela Maurer of Germany taking on aggressive swimmers from over 40 countries, the city of Roberval is planning a red-carpet treatment for all competitors and visitors to the World Championships. The complete list of registered swimmers will soon be listed here.
“Surrounding Roberval, there are the lovely communities of St-Félicien (10-minute drive from Roberval), Dolbeau-Mistassini (a 45-minute drive), Chambord (a 10-minute drive), Metabetchouan (a 20-minute drive) and Alma (a 45-minute drive),” recommended Rafaelle. “Visitors can research lodging and make reservations here for all kinds of accommodations in and near Roberval for our world championships between July 15th through 23rd.”
