History Of The Serpentine

The Serpentine, site of the Olympic 10km Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympics, was built in the memory of Queen Caroline between 1727 and 1731.

We believe this makes the Serpentine the oldest man-made venue for the modern-day Olympics.
