Ion Lazarenco Tiron Inducted In The Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland

Ion Lazarenco Tiron is bold, hardened and passionate.
The 40-year-old has not only completed the Oceans Seven this year (Strait of Gibraltar in 4 hours 41 minutes, English Channel in 13 hours 34 minutes, North Channel in 16 hours 23 minutes, Catalina Channel in 12 hours 1 minute, Molokai Channel in 18 hours 11 minutes, Tsugaru Channel in 11 hours 20 minutes, and Cook Strait in 11 hours 5 minutes), but he also completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming as well as an Ice Mile and the International Self-Transcendence Marathon Swim over the course of his career.
In addition, he has raised significant funds for charities in the Republic of Moldova via a 235 km charity swim and was recently nominated for the 2018 World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year.
His Nistru – Unites Moldova Mission helps popularize swimming among children and adolescents, raises awareness on the need to protect the River Nistru, and collects funds for orphanages who do not have family support in Moldova and athletes who practice swimming.
Based on his achievements, he was recently inducted in the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland as an Honour Swimmer in its Class of 2019.
