Heroes And Heroines In The World’s Oceans

For decades, we have covered inspirational and incredible individual feats of speed and stamina in oceans, lakes, bays, rivers and seas around the world,” explains Steven Munatones. “From icons like Lynne Cox and Sarah Thomas or world-renowned personalities from Lewis Pugh to Ram Barkai, people are pushing themselves to extreme limits every single day in the open water.

Swims are getting colder and longer and rougher as swimmers are getting older and bolder.

They not only plan, attempt and complete mind-boggling swims around the world, but they often lead profoundly meaningful lives with a strong sense of purpose and focus.

But individuals who also deeply touch us are Special Olympic athletes and people with various forms of paralysis.

In the same way, Lynne, Sarah, Lewis, and Ram are courageous and adventurous, so are these individuals who venture out beyond the shorelines.

Bruckner Chase has long run the Ocean City Swim Club / Bacharach Rehabilitation Hospital Swimming and Paddling Unified Team Program with Becky McGill and Michelle Evans-Chase. They teach and enable people with spinal cord injuries to move through the water and do prone paddle boarding in the ocean.

There are several other programs from Europe and Brazil (Praia Para Todos) to Honolulu (Versatility Krafts), the Caribbean (Force Blue Team) and Australia (Blue Journey, see below):
