The 8th annual Bridge to Bridge 10K is a 6-mile current-assisted open water swimming competition in San Francisco Bay that requires swimmers traverse from the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge that connects San Francisco and Oakland.

The San Francisco Bay 10K Bridge to Bridge is one of America’s Top 100 Open Water Swims founded and organized by the renowned Water World Swim‘s Pedro Ordenes.

Faith Hale was the youngest bioprene swimmer at the event yesterday. The 17-year-old lifeguard from Laguna Beach was part of the competition who plunged into the cool San Francisco Bay without a wetsuit. “Growing up in Laguna, she has a huge love for open water and is not so into the black lines on the bottom,” says her father Thomas Hale finished behind Faith in the bioprene (skin, non-wetsuit) division. “She’s a Laguna beach lifeguard so it shows that she’s a tough girl getting through beach training with the guys. When she jumped off the boat yesterday her goggles fell off, but she did the whole thing without them. It was choppy and wavy, but she loved it.”
