Epic Swim Maui Begins – Day 1 from Hāna to Ke’anae

EPIC SWIM Maui officially began on July 7th with a 12.5 km very rough water swim from Hāna to Ke’anae. It is not expected to get much easier during its 20-day 300 km circumnavigation swim around the island of Maui.

All the swimmers and support crew are very grateful to begin.

Yvette Dickson Tetteh of Ghana is shown above and local Ryan Leong of Honolulu is shown below.

Tetteh says, “There’s a really beautiful and necessary energy to bringing together swimmers, causes, and working solutions from around the world. I believe this will be an amazing opportunity to build a fuller picture of all the work being done to protect our water bodies.”

Leong says, “I’m humbled and stoked to join EPIC SWIM Maui on this amazing adventure honoring the legendary Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaiian culture, ocean health, and the waterman ethos. It will be an incredible experience combining everything I’m passionate about.”
