“I’ve leveraged our 69 years of relationships in Barrington and the Chicago area, to support Doug and his commitment to finding a Cure for ALS. I remember when we first met, asking him why he did these outrageous swims. He answered, “Because I can still use my arms and legs;
an ALS patient cannot.”
On June 25th at Phillips Menswear in Barrington, Illinois, there is a Meet & Greet with Douglas McConnell where people can learn more about his Epic ALS Swim across the Ka’iwi Channel in Hawaii, scheduled for July 24th.
For more information about A Long Swim Team where McConnell swims for funds and awareness in Collaborative Research for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), visit www.ALongSwim.
To date, A Long Swim has raised more than US$320,000 for ALS research, which makes it one of the top charity swims in history. “It is a very rewarding time to be funding ALS research, as the pace of discovery is accelerating all the time.”
