Can’t Wait To Read Blind Vision

James Pittar, an icon in the open water swimming world, will release his autobiography called Blind Vision in April 2019.

Pittar is an International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer, a celebrated Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming member, a member of the Rottnest Channel Swim Honour Board, who suffers from a genetic disorder called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which causes a degeneration of his retina.

After the age of 16, Pittar suffered from rapidly decreasing vision. He was legally blind by 21 and completely blind by his early 30s.

Now nearly 50, he has had a lifetime to achieve all kinds of goals in the open water and reflect upon his fascinating life that includes raising over AUS$100,000 for the Fred Hollows Foundation, working for the Rainbow Club Foundation which teaches disabled kids how to swim, and participating in the unprecedented 6-day 86 km Bering Strait Swim, a relay crossing from Chukotka, Russia, to Alaska, USA in 2013.
