Buenos Días Swimmers In Baja California

Simon Murie, founder of SwimTrek teamed up with Gary Emich, known as Mr. Alcatraz, down south in the tropically warm waters of Baja California for a new SwimTrek in Mexico.

Based in the tranquil and stunning Sea of Cortez off Baja’s eastern coast, this trip is bound to be one of our most popular.”

“Each day, we swim underneath rocky cliffs, past beautiful sandy beaches, through remote coves and of course undertake some fabulous island to island swims. Baja’s enchanting wildlife will be our companions on this journey.”

SwimTrek has been running open water swimming tours in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Middle East and Northern Europe for years to great acclaim. Expansion to the west coast of the Americas was the next logical step.

We go island- or lake-hopping following routes of cultural, historical and geographical significance. Nothing beats open water swimming holidays for fun, freedom and for a great feeling of achievement. All locations have been chosen for their excellent water quality.”

And Baja California’s water is absolutely gorgeous in a part of the world where surfers, fishermen, divers and other marine enthusiasts have been visiting for decades. Back in 1984, a 24-mile professional marathon swim was conducted along this course where many of history’s greatest swimmers – Paul Asmuth, Claudio Plit and Philip Rush – gathered to enjoy the aqua-blue waters of Mexico.
