While swimmers from the University of Kansas did not win an individual collegiate title like Haley Bishop and teammate Libby Walker did last year in the inaugural 5 km College Swimming Coaches Association of America National Collegiate Open Water Championships in Lone Star Lake, the Jayhawks as a team did win the national title this year in the second annual championship.
Bryn Hadley, a senior and distance freestyle specialist from the Southern Illinois University took top honors followed by Catalina Berraud-Galea (1:04:47.39) and Hanna Huston (1:04:52.89). Kansas won the team title as its swimmers all placed in the Top 10: Lauryn Parrish (4th), Jenny Nusbaum (5th) and Haley Bishop (9th).
