Dr. Wallace J. Nichols is the CEH₂O – or Chief Evangelist for Water – for the Santa Cruz, California-based water-monitoring and -saving device company called Buoy Labs, Inc.
The marine biologist explains his role with the company. “I’ve worked worldwide to change the conversation about water, for good.
I’ve loved water my entire life, and I feel my best when I’m near or in it. I became a marine biologist to stay connected to water, and wrote a Blue Mind about our brain on water to share the latest research on its cognitive, emotional, psychological, physical and social benefits.”

With an increasing number of open water swimmers taking on various issues with water availability and the marine environment as a passion and cause, we may see more people serving in the role as a CEH₂O.
