Alan Gleeson Becomes An Ice Ironman In Limerick

Alan Gleeson, a 53-year-old triathlete and ice swimmer, became the latest member of the Iron Iceman Club with his 33 minute 5 second Ice Mile at the Shannon Rowing Club in Limerick, Ireland on January 30th in 4.93°C water and 6.90°C air.

Gleeson had previously completed an Ironman Triathlon in Frankfurt, Germany in 2008 finishing in 13 hours 13 minutes.

The Shannon Rowing Club in Limerick has been the site of many Ice Milers, assisted by the Limerick Narwhals, over the last week. The Limerick Narwhals now have 17 Ice Milers within its ranks that represent 34% of all Irish Ice Milers. These recent Ice Milers include:

Aoife McGuinness (46) on January 29th in 32 minutes 25 seconds.

Mark Dempsey (45) on January 29th in 45 minutes 21 seconds.

Harry Harbison (63) on January 29th in 40 minutes 30 minutes.

Ger Purcell (66) on January 30th in 43 minutes 28 seconds.

Brian Dillon (51) on January 31st in 43 minutes 48 seconds.

Liz Ryan on January 31st in 35 minutes 36 seconds.

Rosie Foley (48) on January 31st in 34 minutes 55 seconds.

Orlagh Scanlon (29) on January 31st in 35 minutes 49 seconds.

Billy Cantillon (48) on February 1st in 43 minutes 45 seconds.
