A Remarkable Pacing Effort By The World’s Best

Yesterday’s world 10 km champion Martina Grimaldi of Italy swam four fairly evenly-split 2.5 km loops in the 10 km course in Roberval: 31:08, 31:29, 31:24 and 30:44.
Silver medalist Giorgia Consiglio 31:09, 30:58, 31:26 and 31:54 while bronze medalist Yanqiao Fang of China went 31:20, 31:20, 31:36 and 30:43.
It was a remarkably evenly split race where they went shoulder-to-shoulder for a little more than 2 hours in a wavy course where they face 6 different buoy-to-buoy tangents on each loop. In our observation, the women went for it right from the start and give it their all on every single stroke, breath and kick.
