82 km Done, 499 km To Go

On Day 9, South African swimmer Martin Hobbs has breaststroked 82 km of his 581 km north-to-south stage swim crossing of Lake Malawi on the borders between Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

As one of the most bio-diverse freshwater lakes in the world, Hobbs is facing all kinds of issues in his 581 km attempt – including large swarms of flies with untold numbers that look like giant billows of smoke coming off the water.

His effort serves as a charity swim for the Smile Foundation. Visit here and his Facebook page here for more information.
