BBC The icy swim that warmed Cold War relations.

What is so striking to us is not the fact that the brilliant Lynne Cox completed the first crossing from Little Diomede (U.S.A.) to Big Diomede (U.S.S.R.) in 2 hours 6 minutes on August 7th 1987, but that so soon after her historic swim was over the iconic adventurer was smiling and speaking so eloquently as if she had just swum a short ocean swim in her home town of Seal Beach, California as opposed to swimming across the Bering Strait.
