With the speed that Jordan Wilimovsky showed in the 1500m race at the US Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, he is looking good for a podium position in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
His strategy – both tactics in a race and long-term training with his coach Dave Kelsheimer – seem to bode well for Wilimovsky in both the pool and open water. His preparation – both physiologically and psychologically – are optimal for the most demanding two races on the Olympic schedule.
Wilimovsky swam the 1500m in 14:49.19, pushing winner Connor Jaeger who finished in 14:47.61, the fourth fastest 1500m swim this Olympic year. He comfortably qualified for the US Olympic Team as third-place Michael McBroom finished in 15:06.60 and fourth-place Chris Wieser finished in 15:09.70.
