100 Year Anniversary Of Río de la Plata Crossing

On March 3rd, 2019, Lucas Rivet, Pablo Cosso, Adriano Motta, Marcial Carnevali, Genaro Carnevali, Julieta O’Connor, Ignacio Scott, Carlos Kmetiuk, Andres Sellei, Gaston Faccio and German Pezzenati will attempt a 42 km relay crossing of the Río de la Plata between Argentina and Uruguay to
to commemorate the centenary of the iconic marathon swimming challenge.

The challenge began on February 19th 1919 when International Marathon Swimming Hall of Famer Enrique Tiraboschi made the initial attempt to swim across the 40 km that separate both coasts of Argentina and Uruguay.

Lucas Rivet says, “100 years later, 11 swimmers from Argentina and Uruguay will try to swim across the widest river in the world, organized by the Asociación Cruce a Nado Río de la Plata with logistics managed by Swim Argentina.
