S.C.A.R.ed For Life, The Legacy Of Kent Nicholas

It is a testimony to his vision and efforts,” says David Barra of race director Kent Nicholas. “He has developed a real support system for everyone at S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge. It is a lot of work to get these stage swims organized. There are some long swims in remote places.”

Nicholas has over 40 volunteers on boats, kayaks and onshore supporting 31 swimmers.

This is not an easy task corralling all these volunteers for 4 marathon swims in a part of the world – the American southwest desert. “He is doing a great job and the swimmers are very well taken care of.”

In the second year of his vision of bringing marathon swimming to the desert, the first day of S.C.A.R. was by all accounts outstanding, going beyond everyone’s expectations. S.C.A.R.’s future looks very, very bright for an event that will undoubtedly continue for a very, very long time.
