Early this week Ximena and Antonio Argüelles, principals of Brazada Abrazada, appeared on Mexican national television. The first Mexican Oceans Seven swimmer appeared on a shorter segment on a leading news anchor show (here) and on a longer segment during a morning show (here).

Argüelles explains, “The Brazada Abrazada Foundation is the materialization of my efforts to spread the message of how swimming can transform lives. Through the foundation, we are empowering kids in Mexico. We believe that going through our program gives them six key abilities that they can use to solve future problems in their lives.

Kids can develop their motor skills and improve their coordination, they can increase their cognitive ability, increase their self-esteem, build on their social skills and team work, decrease the risk of drowning and increase their emotional and psychological security.

Although the Foundation is just beginning, we have grown from 150 to 1,000 kids in one year and we hope to reach 10,000 kids by 2025.”
