Experienced open water swimmers and newcomers tell us why they do open water.

In the Out of the Box video shown below, a 90-minute DVD on open water swimming produced by USA Swimming, Micha Burden (a cover model for Competitor Magazine) tells a little something about open water swimming. She is followed by other USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Team members, including Olympic coach Bill Rose of Mission Viejo Nadadores.

Trying to follow the footsteps of Micha, many young newcomers to the sport, like Dan O’Connor (on left), tell their reasons why they will try open water swimming at the upcoming USA Swimming National 5K and 10K Open Water Swimming Championships in Long Beach, California.
