David Aronson told us of his father Buddy Aronson who swam in the first 2.4-mile Waikiki Roughwater Swim in 1970 at the age of 46.
“At the time, he didn’t own a pair of goggles and swam the entire race without them which he regrets,” remembered Aronson.
“He also told me he had never swam the far before and had not prepared in any way for the race. He is still swimming at 91 in Western Massachusetts and Florida.”
