Urban Runoff Cancels Nadadores Rough Water Swim

An exceptional multi-year drought has haunted California. But today the American Far West got a bit of a drench that brought unexpected rainfall to Southern California.

From San Diego to Los Angeles, the record rainfall caused a massive amount of urban runoff to head towards the coast. This led to a massive amount of brown muck and junk being carried by the rainfall to the coastal areas.

The urban runoff led to elevated bacteria levels throughout the coast including Dana Point‘s Salt Creek Beach.

Mission Viejo Nadadores Masters’ Mark Moore decided that the 4th Annual Nadadores Rough Water Swim that was to be held at Salt Creek Beach on May 16th will be cancelled.
