Try Try Again In Monterey Bay

Patti Bauernfeind didn’t successfully cross Monterey Bay this week – the beautifully orange nettle jellyfish made sure she cut short her 23-mile attempt. When she could not quickly answer her crew’s question about the names of her dogs, they quickly pulled her out after 6.5 hours. But she had no regrets on her second attempt. “It was beautiful to swim at night and into dawn in Monterey Bay. It’s an amazing bay teaming with dolphins, sea otters, seals, whales and other amazing wildlife. Swimming at night was like swimming through stars. Phosphorous bubbles were created by my stroke were lovely. I am disappointed to not finish in Monterey, but I am grateful for the chance to swim in Monterey Bay and to raise money for Trust in Education.”
