MARNATON is a unique combination of three Spanish words: MAR (sea) + NATACIÓN (swimming) + MARATHON. The brand and series was created by Miguel Rahola, Mirentxu Vignau and other open water swimming collaborators in Catalonia, Spain.
The travesías de natación en aguas abiertas Marnaton eDreams series offers the following four events in 2016:
* Barcelona on May 7th: 2 km + 8x500m + Kids race
* Begur on June 12th: 7 km Aiguablava > Sa Riera + 3.5 km Sa Tuna > Sa Riera + Kids race
* Sant Feliu de Guíxols on July 2nd: 6 km Canyet > Sant Feliu de Guíxols + 1.5 km Port Salvi > Sant Feliu de Guíxols + Kids race
* Cadaqués on September 17th: 6.5 km Cap de Creus > Cadaqués + 4 km Portlligat > Cadaqués + 2.5 km Caials > Cadaqués + Kids race
The series ranking system comprises of the following maximum point totals for each race:
* 1,000 points: 2 km Barcelona race, 7 km Begur race, 6 km Sant Feliu de Guíxols race, 6.5 km Cadaqués race
* 750 points: 3.5 km Begur race, 4 km Cadaqués race
* 500 points: 1.5 km Sant Feliu de Guíxols race, 2.5 km Cadaqués
