Tom Hecker Crosses Another One

LAKE TAHOE. Tom Hecker, co-chairman of the La Jolla Cove Swim Club knocked off another one of his marathon swimming goals as a charter member of several Half Century Clubs.

With the English Channel (15:21), Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (8:20), Catalina Channel (10:45) and Strait of Gibraltar (3:40) under his swim cap, he successfully crossed Lake Tahoe (22.1 miles) in 15 hours 9 minutes from Camp Richardson in California to Hyatt Beach in Nevada as the oldest swimmer on record. With no end in sight, the energetic 59-year-old from San Diego continues to set his sights on other channels around the world
