To The Depths And Other Shore By Rene Martínez Saenz

Rene Martínez Saenz is an ocean swimmer and associate with Pelagic Life (Protección y Conservación Pelágica AC), a Mexican non-profit organization whose mission is to protect open ocean marine life in Mexico by inspiring awareness, jump-starting ecotourism and promoting sustainable consumption via films and books.

Pelagic Life’s most recent documentary film and a 260-page hardback picture book, entitled México Pelágico, are beautiful.

His inspiration for his work with Pelagic Life comes from his own adventures in the ocean; most recently a 14 hour 26 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel [shown above] and the Pan-American Colibrí Swim, a cross-border swim between California and Tijuana, Mexico.
